Afripot Tours organizes short Uganda safaris/ tour to Queen Elizabeth National Park in the south west of the country to meet the safari needs of busy or time bad travelers that would love to explore the amazing abundant wildlife in Uganda. The tour incorporates the magical wildlife viewing, the recreational boat cruise along the 45km long Kazinga Chanel and an optional Chimpanzee trekking in the Kyambura gorge.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is noted to be one of the most popular destination always encountered on safaris in Uganda and it features diverse Eco systems including the rolling Savannah combretum , shady humid forests, , beautiful lakes along with rich wetlands that makes the park ideal for big game including the four of the big five, the ten (10) Species of Primates and over the 600 bird species which makes it the habitat with the greatest bird Species count in the whole of East Africa. These include among others the eleven (11) Kingfisher Species, shoe bill stork species, the range of raptors, eagles and falcons and a range of flamingos in the crater lakes.
The Uganda safari destination of Queen Elizabeth National Park is set up in the Albertine rift flats close to the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains with Margarita peak that rise to 5, 109m above sea level and snow capped. Park features the magic Katwe explosion crater with counts of crater lakes and crater hollows, the 45km long Kazinga Channel that connect Lakes George and Edward with one of the great Hippo concentrations in the world along with Nile crocodiles and an average of 60 bird species.
The savannah stretches support the countless herds of Uganda Kobs, the water bucks, the great herds of African elephant, the Cape Buffalo, lions including the tree climbing lions of Ishasha, the Spotted hyenas, the Africa leopard, the side stripped jackal, olive baboons, the vervet monkeys among other species. These combine to qualify Queen Elizabeth National Park as a medley of wonders.
DAY 1 – TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK.
Morning breakfast, check out and head South West via Kampala. An en-route brief stop at the Equator and thereafter, proceed for hot lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre or at the Agip Motel. Continue your journey through the Western Rift Valley to Queen Elizabeth National Park. A late afternoon / early evening game drive to end your day in an adventurous manner!!!
DAY 2 – IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK .
A sunrise game-drive adventure!!! This park has got different vegetation types and eco-systems such as tropical forest, grassy plains, rivers, lakes – Edward and George, swamps and volcanic craters which harbor amazing wildlife species. With the massive Rwenzoris as a backdrop, game drives in the park provides excellent opportunities to encounter elephants, cape buffalos, thousands of Uganda Kobs, lions, leopard, Topi, giant forest hog, de fassa waterbuck and bush buck. After lunch, have a two hours launch cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel that links Lakes Edward and George. The launch cruise is not only a wonderful way to see schools of hippos and the occasional Nile crocodile but also offers spectacular bird watching, game viewing and photography opportunities.
DAY 3 –RETURN TO ENTEBBE.
An early morning breakfast, check-out and transfer to the Kyambura section of Queen Elizabeth Conservation Area for an opportunity to track “man’s closest cousins” – the chimpanzees and also if lucky see the Tree climbing Lions . Thereafter, drive back to Entebbe with lunch en-route. Drop off at Entebbe International Airport for onward departure.
